awesome cars (in japan) to make you happy

Posting early for you car lovers out there who may want to waste some time today looking at some pretty good snapshots of a whole lot of beautiful and unusual automobiles.

(Just a sample. Love those old Toyota Crowns.)

Flavien Vidal of Jalopnik chanced upon a classic car show today in Okazaki, Japan. November 3rd is Culture Day, a national holiday, and apparently everyone in the Okazaki area who has a cool ride gave it a wash, packed up the lawn chair, and headed over to the local temple for a good old fashioned parking lot car show.

We’ve all been there, but I’ve never seen a parking lot show quite like this. Click the link above to see not just a wildly gorgeous collection of  Japanese domestic market “not sold heres”, but also some fine examples of familiar and obscure European types.  There’s even a Go Pro video walk around,  which I’m saving for later.

This is a guaranteed good time. Highly recommended.

(Also, I identified Vidal’s “no idea what that is” car at first glance. Can you?)
