the book, an introduction

I was going to post this yesterday, but I figured if I did, everyone would assume it was an April Fool’s Day come on.  It sounds like one, and, frankly, it may end up being just as foolish.

But the fact remains: I have a table at SPX this year, and I’m going to have a new paperback book ready to put on it.  SPX is the second weekend of September.  It’s now the second of April.  The only thing I know about the book (now known as The Book) is that it’s going to be a large collection of the Kekionga minicomics, starting with “Bud and the Bugs from Dimension X” and ending with … something.

The Book has no page count, no title, no cover design, no page size and no printer lined up.  I have a filing cabinet full of original pages, an elderly desktop computer, an even more elderly scanner, Paintshop Pro and Scribus,  and a couple of very reliable, efficient and competent people to help me, people I very sincerely hope will still be speaking to me in August.  And I have this blog, and I have you, my readers.  I’ll be keeping you posted, and asking for your input as soon as I have anything to ask you about.

Won’t you hang around and watch the fun?

My friend, if we can do an original 72-page book from scratch in less than 3 months flat, we can definitely do a compilation volume of existing material in five. No negative talk… it’ll get done.

    • Pam Bliss says:

Well, you did notice I said “going to” and nothing about “plan” or “try”. That said, the deadline is a little tighter than that, since we’re jobbing out the printing, and there’s the whole issue of the work on the house … eek. But you’re right. It’s going to get done.

(Wolfie is one of the people I hope will still be speaking to me in August.)

  2. Johanna says:

Congratulations! I’m excited to see what it becomes.

    • Pam Bliss says:

Thanks muchly, Johanna. I think I may have come up with a title last night, and I’m also pretty sure there are going to be some “DVD extras”, including bonus stories and cartoons I did for anthologies and such.

  3. Rick Santman says:

I’ll be hanging out to watch the fun….or the train wreck. Either would amuse me….from the safe distance of 150 miles, LOL

But I REALLY want to read the book, so I have my fingers crossed for fun, Fun, FUN!

  4. Pam Bliss says:

Don’t worry, there is absolutely going to be a book. The only question is whether there will be a book on the table at SPX, or simply in time for holiday gift giving.
